SONG BO!!!

Had a long but fun day today. I was in school in the morning for jumps training then headed down to my alma-mater (cat high) for Homecoming Day. Its an annual carnival like event for old boys to get together. This year's was pretty much the same as previous years except for one very big difference--there were a lot more girls present at the Homecoming compared to previous years. Isn't Homecoming an event for the old boys, what were girls doing there in the first place? Its sorts of undermined the whole purpose of the Homecoming. Anyway managed to caught up with some of the teachers today. I basically grumbled to them about how life was so slack then compared to jc life where everyone is so super smart and hardworking.

After that some of us went to macdonald's at J8 to grab a bite and talk nonsense like in the good old days. It was rather liberating to see all the old boys back at Cat high cause I dint have to restraint myself from using too vulgar words. Our choice of words was rather colourful today. After the catch up session with the guys i went back home to do a bit of research for the highlight of the day--Old Changi Hospital walk, yeap, i went back in there again. This time i went back in there with Michelle, Hansen, Ray Rin, Neh Neh, Edwin and Teresa. Edwin was asking for trouble; he wore a red polo shirt in. Luckily nothing out of the ordinary happened to us. The walk was very fun and nothing much happened actually except for the part when we sunddenly heard some old country song being played from downstairs. There were mixed feelings among us as some were a little freaked out while some were startled by the sudden melody that we were hearing. To be fair the song was quite nice actually; its just that the setting and atmosphere then made the entire situation damn freaking scary. So of us were quite convinced that the music originated from the lower floors but we decided to be oblivious about it and carry on with our walk as teresa was already showing a bit of distress then. I think its because she is very sensitive to this kind of stuffs, maybe thats why the music did not go down well with her, lol.

The rest of the walk was mainly centered on trying to locate the mortuary cause the earlier time which i went in, me and the other people mistook another building for the mortuary. It was only when i went online today to research a bit about the hospital did i realise that i had mistaken the building wrongly. The mortuary is actually situated at the back of the hospital near the flight of stairs leading up to the back wing of the hospital. It was rather small amd it seemed to have specific platforms to place certain stuffs or machines. I think its the fridge and those stuffs. There were also drains in the room as well which sort of confirmed my believe that the room is the mortuary as i think that the drains are there to drain off the blood that dripped onto the floor during the olden days.

you guys can also go to immonesmich.blogspot.com to see michelle's account on the walk. I'm quite sure it would be more thourough then mine and her english would also own me as well, lol.

After the entire walk we even had time to head down to Changi Village for a chow then we headed back home. Overall I think today was a great day and I'm looking forward our next "ghost walk". Untill then, i would have to start researching where we should go for the walk. Most likely it would be the abandoned Ford factory in Bukit Timah.

mid years is finally over

actually its not, but i don't count chinese as an exam. i think i'm just going there waste my time and my pen ink. so far i think all the papers that i had were rather ok. ok as in i think i wont end up having SUSU. hopefully i would pass all the subject but i'm not so confident about that as i was smoking my way through papers such as geo and econs. honestly 3 hours for subjects like econs and geo are way too muct time man. its good cause i have more time to finish writing my answer but on the other hand, my hand was dying after the paper from all the writing. what made it worst was that i have sweaty palms, so the pen kept slipping away from my grip and also the sweat on my palm caused some of my answer to be smudged as well. oh well, at least i'm finally over with it.

halfway through geo paper yesterday i could not help but to chuckle whenever i turn to my right only to see edwin stoning there. freak sia, he was scanning through the lecture theatre to see who else was stoning as well, haha. oh well i think mid years more or less is screwed.

on a seperate note, hansen and i went to thaddeus's wake on tues evening. the group of us agreed to meet at serangoon mrt and dressed in any cat high related clothes cause we will be going down as team CH. as we made our way towards his place (walking), the mood among us went from being rowdy (we were walking on the street as if we got pay road tax and own the place) to being very solemn the moment we saw the white tentage structure outside his house. as we walked nearer towards his house, some of the guys whom had reached there earlier in the afternoon were practically stoning and seating around the table outside the house. their stoning was not edwin's kind of stoning but it was more of a depressing stoning. we went into the house after writing our messages in the condolences book; he was rested in a white coffin and he seemed to be at peace. the pair sunglasses which i almost always saw him wore was rested on his chest. all this while im sure everyone there was in depressed state as i saw some of my friends tearing up. i still can't believe his gone just like that man; exactly one week ago he might be somewhere happily eating prata and now his body is cremated in mandai crematorium. hansen and i weren't able to attend the cremation session yesterday as our paper ended too late, its such a pity that we could not bid farewell to him for the last time. my friend, nicholas tan, who went to the cremation session messaged me this after it ended: That's it, its over.

Goodbye my Friend

I first met him during the secondary 2 camp at Jalan Behtera where he was both my group mate and bunk mate. Initially when he introduced himself to me, I was very intrigued by his name as it was very unique, perhaps even more unique then mine. Up till now, whenever I see him (or should I say saw him), the image of a teddy bear would always spring into my mind, like it was synonymous to his name. During the camp I found that he was a nice chap whom was full of nonsense, like every other guys and the entire group of us had lots of fun. The camaraderie that all of us shared is something that would linger in my mind for a long time to come.

I still remembered during the Secondary 3 overseas trip to Penang where he thrashed everyone in the 42km cycling activity. He was already quite a triathlon enthusiast then and it was made apparent when he was decked out in his cycling suit and gears with that thousand dollar bike by his side. During the cycing journey, he was way ahead of the pack--he was so good that he was actually keeping pace with the patrol car that was supposed to lead us througout the 42km. After the activity most of us were suffering from sores and aches (especially around the groin area) but he on the other hand still looked relatively fresh. I was thoroughly impressed by his fitness and I'm sure the other guys in my group would concur with me too.

Back in school I knew him as the kind of person who was rather laid back in his studies and he really knew how to slack, which was the norm for us then. After that I would sometimes chat up with him along the school corridors as we are not classmates. If memory serves me right, i think we had ran race together before, should be the 4 x 100m relay I guess. We came in 2nd that year. I didnt really catch with him during the graduation year back in Cat High cause I guess everyone was busy with their own commitments. I heard from Hansen that the last time he saw him was at Macritchies reservoir when he was there for a morning jog with Shaun. I originally intended to join them for the run but I was a no show in the end as I was dead tired on that day due to a late night the previous night. I'm beginning to regret a little for not being more deciplined and go for the morning run.

During secondary 3 for chinese lesson, our first chapter had something to do about cherishing those around you as you would never know when they would depart. The significance of that message had never made a lasting impression on me--until yesterday morning, 24th June 2007. That day was a day of solemn for most of us who knew him on a personal level as I'm pretty sure everyone was taken abacked by the sudden news of his departure. I for one is certainly one of them. Even though some of my friends thought that i was apathetic to this tragedy as I seemed to be ignorant of the event in school, but trust me, I am not emotionless. I'm more inclined to masking my feelings with layers of bravado which may cause me to appear uncaring in nature.

Yo if you can hear me I just wanna tell you this:

I'M PROUD TO HAVE KNOWN YOU, MY FRIEND

the more i study the more i dunno

HOW IRONIC!

crap, been studying with hansen they all lately. not really effective actually, its not their fault or whatever but i think its becuase i started mugging a little too late. SUSU now seems a lot nicer then UUUU. haha.

sarah is now on msn telling me all those freaky things about old changi being haunted and everything cause some of my friends and i are going back in there this coming saterday. watched 2 horror flicks lately--bout some abandoned old bulidings, like old changi hospital like that. then now she telling me all those stuffs that happened there (girl kena possesed, someone leg got grabbed), now my head got all the funny funny thoughts liao.

oh well, chances are i think we would split into smaller groups, like 4 ppl per grp but i think what will be most awesome if we go in 2s instead. but i dont think any of us including me would dare do so. i just wish the week would fast forward to this sat so we can go can guan the hospital; and hopefully we wont end up becoming permanent residents there. hansen, im damn sure you will find a lot of mistakes in this post, lol. gotta go, ah-di-os

teresa siao eh (joking only)

yeap i think she siao liao, fancy going to jump off the bridge at singapore river there. who with a sane mind would actually go and get drench in the singapore river for the sake of it. i was dumbfounded when she told me that just now during dinner after we left hansen's place earlier to study.

it was quite productive studying at hansen's place today, managed to cover a few chapters of econs. oh ya, hansen told me that my command of english in the previous postings damn jia lat. die sia, i think my gp also screwed liao. basket, i think this would be my results for mid years:

chem geo maths econs

S U S U

singlish

BAGUS

jia lat, lets hope that i'm wrong. oh well gotta go watch movie with hansen and his bro at northpoint there now. chiao.

SCREWED

yeap you heard me, SCREWED. i think i'll be damn freaking contented if i can pass all my subjects for mid-years. honestly most of my time had been robbed by reasons unknown to me and all i can say now is i gotta do some serious studying man.

anyway, i was rather dissapointed that i could not compete in last friday friendly track meet at vj cause i busted my left ankle again over the earlier weekend at the SEA junior when i hit the 4th hurdles in the finals. the ankle was already rather swollen prior to that knock cause i had already injured it quite a number of times during trainings before that race. so whacking the hurdle on that day only served to give me excruciating pain for the first few minutues after the race and a big fat swollen ankle (or i would rather call it a pig trotter instead). if not for the persuasion of my track team mates calling me to go and see the doctor, i would have actually waited for the track season to be over first before i seek any medical help. so i went down to Chooks last fri and he told me it was nothing much except an inflammed ankle. so he gave me some medication to bring the swelling down.

the ankle looks better now and hopefully i won't knock it again during training cause i can almost safely say that it would swell up big time again. after seeing chooks i head over to tangs to buy the father day gift for my dad ( i got him a wine cooler) and then rushed down to suntec there to meet up with him and my sisters. thank goodness i bought him the wine cooler cause he would need it since he bought a whopping 24 BOTTLES of wine from carrefour. freak, i have no idea how long he would take to consume all those wine. besides that, he already has about 120 plus bottles of wine in the wine fridge so i don't really see the point in purchasing another 2 dozen bottles of wine. oh well its his prerogative if he wants his house to be highly flammable. lol, just joking pops.

oh yea, almost forgot, the week after the mid year me and some of my friends would be going back into the old changi hospital. it would be the first time for some of them but it would be the 2nd time for me going in there at night. i want to go back in there again cause i did my research and i found out that there is actually a torture chamber in the hospital and apparently we missed it when we were there the other time. so i thought it would be more thrilling if we know some background knowledge of the hospital first before we go scouring the place again as our minds would be filled with all the funny thoughts. its amazing how one's mind can scare the shit out of the person in a seemingly harmless situation. maybe, just maybe, we actually head down to the redhouse after touring the hospital cause i heard it another 'haunted' spot by my friend. but i think we would only go there if time permits as i dont want to catch a cab after midnight as the ride would definitely burn a deep hole in my pocket even though it would also make my wallet much lighter, lol.

oh well gotta end off here. have to go back preparing to die for mid years, lol

back from track camp

just gpt back from track camp. it was really fun and the track team manage to bond together through a series of activities with my favourite being the night walk to the old changi hospital. the original one was just a walk the back entrance of the hospital which was about 300m in. i must say the walk is a little sppoky cause the only light source apart from the torchlights that we brought in was the glow of the moon. the walk itself was rather short as we did not venture into the hospital building. so after the initial walk, a group of us decided to go for our own 2nd night walk and we went back in to the hospital complex and tried to look for the entrance to the mortuary as we so happened to walk pass it on our 1st walk. i must say the interior of the hospital was rather spooky as there was no light and the walls are vanderlised by grafitties. anyway im freaking ytired now so i shall continue about the camp another time.

2nd and last day of SEA junior

i saw some imbar races today down at gombak stadium. i must say, the standard was freaking high and i witnessed runs that left my jaw wide opened. lol. anyway i was practically stoning in between the races cause the organisers took very long to prepare for each race, so on average the waiting time between each races was like 15min. wasted the afternoon sia cause i had no race today, finished mine yesterday. the only reason why i'm down at the stadium was because the team manager said its compulsory to support our fellow runners. its not that i'm some anti social person who could not care less about the other runners but i dont see the point in surpporting people whom i dont even know, lol. i would have much rather stay at home and prepare for my mid years. oh by the way, i think im screwed cause i ahev not seriously started preparing for ythe mid years.

the races finished about 5 plus and i headed down to my pre-u seminar friend birthday party. crap man, i was a little regretful that i turned down the offer to go to the farewell dinner for the SEA youth team cause i only found out today that the dinner would be at ah yat seafood restaurant.

today was rather mundane actually cause after the birthday party where the group of us just stoned, ate and talked for about an hour plus then we went to causeway point for dinner then go home. sia la, tmr would be the first day of track camp. hope the camp would be fun. i'm freaking sleepy, gonna hit the sack, chiao.

2nd South-East Asia (SEA) Junior Athletics C’ships 2007

this is my 1st time blogging. i don't even know why i'm doing this all of a sudden but heck it. i think i'll just post something once in a while when i wanna kill time. anyway today was the SEA junior; got whipped by the thai and malaysian runners. its a good experiance though. ran the 110m hurdles, came in 7th overall but there was only 9 runners competing. so i don't think that would give me any bragging rights, haha. im quite satisfied by my timing as i cut down my previous pb by 1s to 16.27s. its credible timing but i think i would have to train hard and bring down the timing below 16s if i want to have a shot in getting a medal for nationals( any colour would do). some of the trackers came down to gombak today to support me, freddie and james and i think it was very nice of them to take time off to watch us compete. so if you guys are reading this--THANKS A LOT!

the cat high NUS geo challenge came in 6th, same position as the previous 2 years. basket! the teacher in charge of the team mrs goh said that if the team came in top 3 i would get a dinner treat as well cause im sort of the 'trainer' for the team (i didnt really train them actually). but my dear juniors came in 6th, so they end up going for a sakea dinner compliments from their teacher without me. jia lat sia.

anyway i'll end off now cause my arm is aching from all the typing, lol.
