Its been a long time since I updated my blog properly. So I shall try and cover as much as I can over what happened lately. I screwed up my hurdles final as I hit the 4th or the 5th hurdle which caused my speed to slow down a lot. As a result, I came in 8th overall and I have a nasty bruised ankle since then. Quite sad about it actually but oh well, at least there is still next year. As for high jump, I came in 4th which was a pleasent surprise to both the team and me as I seldom went for jumps training and the height I was clearing then was only 165cm. So you can imagine the adrenalin that was pumping through me when I cleared a personal best of 175cm on that day. Hopefully I would be able to go for jumps training more regularly for next year and I hope to do well for both my hurdles and high jump.
This year's Nationals final was the most intense one I had ever been to. Even though I was the reserve runner for the 4 by 100m relay, I still felt pumped up and excited as though I had ran the race. Although I did not run in the finals for the relay, I still felt damn happy for the guys when they came in 2nd-despite falling short of our aim to bring back the full 9 points. Overall the guys and girls team put up a credible performance despite being plagued with injuries prior to Nationals by both coming in 3rd.
After the final, the team went to Jumbo at Serangoon Garden Country Club for our track dinner. We had a lot of fun as we bade farewell to the J2s, gobbled up the food and sang songs. I thought the singing part was freaking funny and lame at the same time because we were singing to songs like Happy Birthday (even though it was none of our's birthday) and Old Macdonald had a Farm. I was even sabotaged by Rong Hua to sing a duet with my teammate-it was so awkward and embarrasing. To make matters worst, it was a chinese song and I dunno how to read the lyrics as it was another version of chinese characters and Rong Hua had to actually read the lyrics out to me and I had to repeat after him. I swear that my face blushed damn red. Thank goodness I'm quite tan, so it was not that obvious.
On a seperate note, I'm glad that I did not get SUSU for my mid-years and instead I fared rather decent by getting AABCDE (a royal flush) for my chinese, chemistry, economics,, maths, GP and geography respectively. Oh well, I gotta hit the books soon as promos would be earlier then I had anticipated and I think I would have to balance my time well as my Taiwanese buddy would be coming to stay over with me from the 28th july to the 8th august. I think I've typed enough for today, chiao.

ok i'm updating, lol
Its been quite a while since i updated here cause i was not able to find time to do so. Anyway nationals is coming to an end and i had my ups and downs for this year's nationals. Screwed up my 110m hurdles final race where i came in last for that race as i smashed into a few hurdles. Oh well, at least i managed to get a point for the team. As for high jump, it was an unexpected 4th place finish. I think i was lucky this year as the rest of the jumpers had a bad day on that morning and i was on form, so i managed to set a pb and got 5 points! Hansen said something about I damn bastard sia, cause i went for so little jumps training yet still come in 4th. Haha, was damn lucky la, he coined me as a part time high jumper, hopefully i can become full time next year, haha. Oh well i gotta go now, going out to catch harry potter later.

TAXI
I took a cab home after training today cause by the time I finished having dinner with my dad at parkway parade, it was already 745pm, so he passed me some cash to catch a cab back instead of taking the bus. The cab ride was about 45min long due to freaking bad traffic everywhere but the ride was the most pleasent one I ever had.
After boarding the cab, the cab driver asked me which way I wanted to go; after telling him my preferred route, he all of a sudden asked me how come I chose to study at VJC when I stay at Yishun. I was quite taken aback at first cause I have never expected a cab driver to strike up a conversation with me. However we began talking about a range of stuffs ranging from how's life in jc to army life. Time seemed to fly by when i was on the cab. I shared with him my experiances at old changi hospital last week and the next thing I knew was that we started talking about the supernatural. He told me about his 'ghostly' encounters when he was back in the army--something about hearing the sound of soldiers marching on the parade square. He also told me how tough army life was back then and how their generation suffered during that time.
That prompted me to shed to him about my slight desire to sign up for the army (yes, please don't be too alarmed). After that he began to talk about making the right choices in life and he told me that owing to the fact that I'm still young, I should keep an open mind and be receptive to new ideas and perceptions--perhaps my desire to join the army may change in the future. That was the most 'educational' taxi ride I ever had and just before alighting the cab, he turned around and told me that I should do what is right cause it is right (sounds like the phrase from the movie Letters of Iwo Jima).

SO NOT ACCURATE
Hey guys, I was at this page www.blogthings.com/whatdoyoureallythinkofyourfriendsquiz/ doing some random quiz as the url imply. I'm damn amused by the results and it is so inaccurate for almost the whole thing--especially for hansen and freddie!
This is what i got:
Shiang Nee is my soulmate
You truly love Freddie (WTF?!)
You consider Jolinita your true friend
You know that Hansen is always thinking of you (WTF?!)
You'll remember Michelle for the rest of your life
You secretly thinks Thiru is creative, charming, and a bit too dramatic at times
You seriously think that Teresa is colourful, impulsive and a total risk taker
You secretly think that Ming Yi is loyal and trustworthy to you. And that Ming Yi changes lovers faster than underwear (OMG!!!!)
You secretly think Samantha is shy and nonconfrontational. And that Samantha has a hidden internet romance (the first part is SO NOT TRUE)
Those points that I have no comments do not mean that its true, its just that the few which have comments are nowhere near the truth!!! HAHA

PLEASE DONT LET IT BE A SLIPPED DISC
Freak man, I have been having this slight sharp pain in the left side of my back since last thursday but i didn't really think much about it cause I thought it would be one of those occasional muscle tightness that would subside after 1 or 2 days. But the pain persisted untill now and it had been affecting my training as I found myself not being able to be at peak performance. I went to see Chooks today as a precaution as nationals are just around the corner and I wanted to nip the problem at its bud before any ramifications set in. After examining my back, the doctor told me that my back was slightly tilted to my left. He said its most probably due to muscle tightness in that area but he was more concerned by the fact that it was slanted as if the next few physiotherapy sessions prove unfruitful, it may be a slipped disc instead.
I was honestly damn stunned when he told me that as I thought that it would be something minor only. I do hope that its not the latter cause if it is so then chances are I would be out of action for quite somtime. Die man, I dont want to train so hard for the past few months only to see it go up in smoke just like that. Even as I'm typing this post, I can still feel the pain fluctuating in the affected area. Freak Man!

TRANSFORMERS
Transformer--robots in disguise. I managed to catch the movie at Lido today with Hansen, Nic and Johnny. The show was so freaking IMBA, the graphics are awesome and the sound effects would blow your mind away; I have no idea why some people said that the movie is soso only. Oh well, perhaps the story plot came across as to shallow to some people. As for me, I couldn't care less, got action can liao.
