TAXI

I took a cab home after training today cause by the time I finished having dinner with my dad at parkway parade, it was already 745pm, so he passed me some cash to catch a cab back instead of taking the bus. The cab ride was about 45min long due to freaking bad traffic everywhere but the ride was the most pleasent one I ever had.

After boarding the cab, the cab driver asked me which way I wanted to go; after telling him my preferred route, he all of a sudden asked me how come I chose to study at VJC when I stay at Yishun. I was quite taken aback at first cause I have never expected a cab driver to strike up a conversation with me. However we began talking about a range of stuffs ranging from how's life in jc to army life. Time seemed to fly by when i was on the cab. I shared with him my experiances at old changi hospital last week and the next thing I knew was that we started talking about the supernatural. He told me about his 'ghostly' encounters when he was back in the army--something about hearing the sound of soldiers marching on the parade square. He also told me how tough army life was back then and how their generation suffered during that time.

That prompted me to shed to him about my slight desire to sign up for the army (yes, please don't be too alarmed). After that he began to talk about making the right choices in life and he told me that owing to the fact that I'm still young, I should keep an open mind and be receptive to new ideas and perceptions--perhaps my desire to join the army may change in the future. That was the most 'educational' taxi ride I ever had and just before alighting the cab, he turned around and told me that I should do what is right cause it is right (sounds like the phrase from the movie Letters of Iwo Jima).
